"If they haven't got prisoners, we have stopped fighting. If our prisoners are forgotten about, they have beaten us."

Things to remember when writing to prisoners:
1. Don't discuss any illegal activity (ALL mail is read by prison officials).
2. Each prison has its own mail restrictions.
3. Do not put any stickers inside or outside the card/letter (including Air Mail/Par Avion stickers, if writing from overseas)
4. Do not include any paperclips, staples or anything extra in your letter.
5. Write your address on the envelope AND inside the letter, since prisoners often are not given the envelope.
6. Do not send money to the prison address (please contact activist's support groups to financially support prisoners).
7. Prisoners appreciate books, but they must be paperback, and must ship directly from the publisher or from online retailers like Amazon.com.
8. Your letters are appreciated , even if you don't receive a response (prisoners are only allowed a limited amount of paper, envelopes and stamps, making it difficult to respond to every letter).

FMC Carswell
Federal Medical Center
P.O. Box 27137
Fort Worth, TX 76127 |
|
| Arrested: March 10, 2008 |
|
| Charges: Marie Mason of Cincinnati, Ohio is a long time environmental and social justice activist and loving mother of two. On March 10th, she was arrested by FBI, Homeland Security and local police on charges related to two Earth Liberation Front actions that occurred in Michigan, in 1999, and 2000.
Marie Mason is serving almost 22 years for two acts of
environmentally-motivated property destruction in which no one was harmed.
Mason was turned in
by her then-husband, Frank Ambrose, who had secretly spied on activists for
years and then filed for divorce the day she was arrested. Mason eventually
plead guilty to 14 actions; 13 were claimed by the Earth Liberation Front
and one by the Animal Liberation Front. At her sentencing, the judge said
she had "violated the marketplace of ideas" and gave her an even longer
sentence than the prosecution had asked for (15-20 years). |

New Address!
McDavid, Eric #16209-097
FCI Victorville Medium II
PO Box
5300
Adelanto, California 92301
|
|
| Arrested: January 13, 2006 |
|
Charges: Conspiracy to destroy property by means of fire or explosives, facing up to 20 years imprisonment. Lauren Weiner and Zach Jensen, Eric's two co-defendants, are cooperating witnesses against Eric.
May 14, 2009: Eric would like for us to let you all know that he is currently unable to respond to snail mail. Victorville has recently implemented a new, illegal mail policy that requires prisoners to submit a list of people to whom they would like to send mail. This list is kept on file in the prison's Trulincs system, which was originally setup as an email system for prisoners. The BOP has since expanded it's use of the system as a way to keep track of prisoner phone lists, mail lists, and as a log-in system for prisoner access to the legal library. The use of the system for these purposes has numerous legality issues, and Eric and a couple of other prisoners are attempting to fight the new rules from the inside. In the meantime, Eric will not be using the mail-labeling system set up by
Trulincs, which means he is unable to send any written correspondence. This does NOT mean that he cannot receive mail - so please keep those letters coming.
Appeal Status
As you know, Eric is in the process of appealing both his conviction and sentence. We were hoping to be able to post the appeal with this alert, but are awaiting word from the court. Eric's lawyer filed the appeal on May 6, but also had to file a motion to file a brief that is twice the
length of a normal appeal. If the court accepts this motion, then the appeal will officially be filed and we can post it for you all to read. This is nowhere near the end of the process, however. The government will have a month to respond to the brief once it is filed, and then Eric's lawyer will have another two weeks for his final response. We fully expect more delays (the brief was originally due last September). We will keep you posted as things develop.
Eric has been in jail or prison for 3 1/2 years now. His strength and courage continue to remind us all of what it means to stay true to ourselves and the things we hold dear. Our sincerest thanks to all of you who have helped make this journey more endurable. |

Diego Alonso
After four months on the run, Diego was arrested on a warrant in early March 2010, after he tried to squat at a house in the Barrera neighborhood of Guadalajara, Jalisco. He is awaiting trial and could receive a sentence of 4 to 6 years. Abraham is vegan.
Abraham was arrested along with Carlos and Fermín who testified against him and others; these two individuals have been rejected by the anarchist movement in Mexico.

Emmanuel Hernández Hernandez
Arrested on November 23, 2009 on charges of violating the federal law against carrying explosives. In 2006 during a demonstration against the World Water Forum, Emmanuel was arrested and accused of carrying Molotov cocktails. He was sent to Mexico City's Reclusorio Norte prison. Emmanuel recently received a sentence of 4 years. He could be released on bail, but he has not been allowed to pay because the prosecutor appealed and asked a judge to lengthen the sentence.

Fallen Warriors
|
| To my friends and supporters to help them make sense of all these events that have happened so quickly:
Certain human cultures have been waging war against the Earth for millennia. I chose to fight on the side of bears, mountain lions, skunks, bats, saguaros, cliff rose and all things wild. I am just the most recent casualty in that war. But tonight I have made a jail break -- I am returning home, to the Earth, to the place of my origins.
